3 Seater UTVs - UTV Ride (2024)

Whether you are looking for a 3 seater side-by-side so you can take your whole family out for a day of fun driving in the mountain trails or if you are looking to ferry your three-person crew around your ranch every day, there will be a sports or utility UTV that will do the job.

Adding a third seat to an already owned UTV is possible, but is likely to only create a small space for a child or pet. For multiple adults sharing a front cab, you will want to look into getting a true 3 seater side by side.

The price of getting one straight off the assembly line that is the correct size will save you space, money, and time in the long run since you will not have to worry about purchasing new seats or additional storage accessories. There is also a vast range of 3 seaters available from all the top manufacturers and even some of the off-name brand designers. You will be able to take your friends and family out in style to blaze down the roads and over mountain trails.

If you do decide to go the aftermarket add-on route, then always check the specifications for any seat before you buy it to ensure that it will fit with whatever UTV you already own or are looking to purchase. Some third-party listed sites with accessories do not include which models they fit, so you will need to call the manufacturer to double-check sizing accuracy.

How Many Seats Do You Need?

Most standard 2 seater side-by-sides can be converted into a 3 seater. This can be accomplished by either adding a bump seat or replacing the individual seats with a bench. You can also convert a 2 seater to a 3 seater by removing one of the seats, making extra room for storage.

When adding or removing seats from your UTV, there will not be more cabin space. This means when you have a bench seat, it still might not be comfortable for three adults to sit side by side. It is better to buy a model that is designed as a 3 seater if you intend to have all passengers be adults.

If you want to know more about the different seating options available for UTVs, you can check out some of our other articles.

Single Seater UTV; These models are great if you want to enjoy yourself alone out on the trail or dunes. The benefits are that they are smaller, easier to transport, and can be easier to maneuver. You can read our full breakdown of single-seater UTVshere.

2 Seater UTV; Arguably the most common size of UTV on the market, every type of UTV, has various 2 seater options available. You can find out more on our pagehere.

4 Seater UTV; 2 seater and 4 seaters are the most popular sizes of UTV for both utility and sport models. You can find our article on 4 seatershere.

5 Seater UTV; True 5 seater side-by-sides are not as typical, but there are a few popular brands with this size of models available. You can find out more on our pagehere.

6 Seater UTV; These are usually crew size utility vehicles though some sports models accommodate six passengers. You can check out our page on 6 seatershere.

Aftermarket additions

If you do not want to buy a true 3 seater, there are still options for you. Aftermarket kits and accessories will allow you to alter your UTV in almost any way imaginable, including increasing seat capacity. You can always adjust the seating in your 2 or 4 seaters UTV by adding or taking away some seats.

The easiest thing to do is add on a bump seat or exchange your two seats for a bench seat. These changes allow you to add another passenger to your vehicle without having to do too much work.

There are some benches and seats that claim to be universal, but you want to double-check before purchasing anything online.

We have broken down what to expect from each of these options and the general pricing you can expect when looking to buy.

Changing out seats for benches

You can find 3 seater benches on sites like Summit Racing Equipment (https://www.summitracing.com/) and UTV Mountain Accessories (https://www.utvmountainaccessories.com/).

Make sure when you are looking at bench seats that you look for ones that fit the UTV you have. Some bench seats are designed only for rear rows of a UTV while others are made for replacing individual seats in the front row.

The cost varies from approximately $400 – $900+ depending on what size and features you want in your bench (e.g., how many point harnesses are included, material, etc.).

Bench seats will not increase the actual cab space, so you will only be able to fit a smaller passenger in the middle seat.

Adding a bump seat

A bump seat is a small removable seat that you can easily fit over the center console of your 2 seater UTV to add a new, smaller seat.

There is a low weight limit for these, so they are usually designed for children and have superior 4 point harness systems for safety.

These bump seats usually come at the cost of between $200 – $400 depending on the brand. You can find some excellent options on some manufacturer sites, but mostly you will find them on third party accessory supply websites like UTV Mountain Accessories.

Where to store your gear

When you are using a personalized UTV that used to be a 2 seater, you will be using up more space for that extra seat you have added, so there will be less enclosed storage space.

You can make up for this by getting frame, roof, or bed storage compartments of either hard plastic or mesh. Most manufacturers have multiple options for increasing storage capacity, including tie-downs for adding boxes and cargo containers to the outside of your vehicle.

For obvious reasons, if you have a bed in your UTV, it is easier to add more cargo storage racks and boxes.

Here are a few standard storage accessories available from top brands that can increase your carry space in a 3 seater side-by-side. This will give you an idea of what price ranges to expect for different storage accessories no matter what brand of UTV you currently own or are looking to purchase.
